Judy JonesJudy Jones. Democratic candidate for MEMBER OF THE STATE ASSEMBLY. 73 district
Why am I running?
CA 73 needs a representative for the people, not for big business and big money,  someone who cares about everyone in our community.

Meet Judy

BUSINESS CONSULTANT/ EDUCATOR
NOT  A POLITICIAN

Judy is NOT a career politician and not an incumbent.

Judy has lived in San Clemente for 14 years, and southern California for 24 years. She grew up and was educated in the midwest, growing up in a striving middle-class family emphasizing education and discussing politics at the kitchen table.

She has over 30 years of business experience, most recently as a manager in software development company.  Her busines experience is in many industries, including consumer products, manufacturing, leasing, newspapers, automotive, insurance and ganking. She is not a politician, but a problem-solver based on technology.

She is married to Bill Walter, a mechanical engineer.  They both enjoy the wonderful weather, and easy access to the ocean and open space in San Clemente.

After college she taught math in Belize with the Peace Corps, inspired by John Kennedy.  She believes in a hand-up,  not a hand-out.

She has an MBA in marketing and finance from the University of Chicago, a BA in math from Ripon College of Ripon, WI.

She's been an active in community and political groups in Orange County for the past six years.

She's always been involved, especially with education, youth, technology and the environment. She initiated and lead her company's Boys and Girls Club computer tutoring program.

She also spent a vacation saving the leatherback turtles in an Earthwatch project.

She is currently a member of an ad-hoc transportation committee with members of Chambers of Commerce and environmental groups from San Clemente, San Juan Capistrano and Dana Point.

Last year she actively participated in a Sierra Club survey of Orange County cities.   The results were positive in that cities have taken many energy efficiency steps because these save money as well as save energy!

ISSUES

Employment--Jobs

California needs jobs!!
---Her opponent states that jobs are her highest priority, but what jobs/projects has she delivered to the 73rd AD?

We have approved funding for our high speed rail project, which could generate 600,000 jobs!  It's a project supported by chambers of commerce, cities, large and small businesses, and labor.
---Her opponent wanted to derail the high speed rail project.

Mass transit is one of several areas where jobs that are good for our environment, the health of our children, and our future sustainability are good for our economy as well.

Judy will promote the creation of new green collar and clean tech jobs, working with educational institutions, environmental organizations and the public-private/ business-government partnerships  on technologies of the future.

And, Judy will work to bring our share of money and projects to the 73rd AD!

Education

Education is the foundation of our future in California! We can't balance the budget by taking more and more money from our students!
--Her opponent voted against eliminating sales tax on college text books.

Judy will fight to stop cuts in education spending. She will work to address the inequitable distribution of money that sends back less to her district.

Judy joined the Peace Corps after college to assist developing nations catch up in math and science, teaching math. Now, it looks like we need the help! California needs to provide quality and accessible education to thrive in the 21st century.

 Environment
DON'T DRILL OFFSHORE! California needs to reduce oil dependency through funding clean technologies and public transportation.
--Her opponent did not vote against offshore drilling; her opponent takes contributions from oil companies, including BP!

We need to keep the beauty of our region for us to enjoy, for economic benefit from tourism and for future generations. She will support state and regional efforts for clean air, clean water, and beautiful beaches/parks. She will save our state and local parks, beaches and open spaces for future generations.

Solutions for sustainable communities. renewable energy sources and fuel efficiencies are needed!
