Judy Jones. An Official Democratic Candidate For Member Of The State Assembly. 73rd District

ENVIRONMENT

Judy believes that not only can a government/business partnership help solve many of our social and environmental problems, she sees it as a great way to create more jobs, grow more businesses and improve the economic health and stability of our district.

Judy will do the following for our environment:

  • Support alternative freeway expansions, surface street connections and build alternate routes to the 241 based on where the traffic needs are greatest. Opposes the proposed 6 lane expansion of the 241 toll road which would cut through San Onofre State Beach.
  • Promote a statewide "clean ocean" fee of $4.00 to $6.00 monthly per household to reduce beach pollution from dirty storm-drain run-off all along the California coastline, modeled after the City of San Clemente.
  • Support all efforts to transition to renewable energy and to wean California from its dependence on fossil fuels and nuclear power, using a realistic timetable.
  • Support the Kyoto Principles and work to minimize the effects of global warming.
  • Oppose any new off-shore oil drilling or gas development.
  • Support and defend the Endangered Species Act, the Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act and California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).
  • Make recyclable water use mandatory in all new construction.
